It was lovely. The vibe was very different than the previous show I had seen, after The Golden Dove. Obviously it "rocked" a lot more and was much heavier. Everything was very guitar-oriented (only 1 song on keyboard) and Mary really held her own with the boys. My only complaint would be that sometimes I felt the bass was too loud and it interfered with her guitar work, which I think is very delicate and/or intricate. Oh, and they only played 1 non-Ex Hex song. But other than that, I am liking the new Mary sound! I'm excited to see her in June with Sleater-Kinney. I would love to see her actually HEADLINE a show out here, but what can you do.
