Last saturday I was privileged to see Helium in concert at the Middle East here in Boston. Mary Timony was really great on the guitar. She could strum out cord patterns that could make one swoon, but I noted that she wasn't the most personable performer. To anyone who knows her, is she just extremely shy or was she upset about something on saturday the 20th. In my opinion she really ought to work on relating better to her audience.
She took pains not to even look at the audience when speaking into the microphone about whatever: she always looked to her side and she generally tried not to acknowledge the presence of the audience even to say the most rudimentary thank you at the end of the show. But in spite of all that I really enjoyed the show! Honest!! -EC Morris; taken from alt.music.alternative-female |
